Also known as the fair. But “The 68th Annual National Peanut Festival” sounds much more spectacular. And The Peanut Festival is spectacular. I love it and the boys loved it this year too.
Of course, if you’ve ever met me or read one single blog post you can probably guess what my favorite part is…Well, yes I do love seeing the joy and amazement on my beautiful children’s’ faces. But I was referring to the food, ya’ll.
Corn dogs, elephant ears, rib eye sandwiches, roasted corn (dipped in butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and garlic), and fried snickers. Yep, that about covers it.
I especially look forward to the corn dogs. I get one from the same vendor every year- The Corn Dog Man. And every year they are exactly the same and equally yummy- except for this year.
The Corn Dog Man got a new wiener. An inferior wiener. Doesn’t he know that when you find a good frankfurter you stick with it?
Yes, it is slightly embarrassing that I can recognize that The Corndog Man changed hotdog brands. But not quite as embarrassing as my Zumba instructor selling me an elephant ear and calling me out in class the next morning. What was she doing promoting fried sugary dough anyway? That’s like Dr. Drew selling meth.
Overall, the family trip to the fair was a success. I safely loaded and unloaded my three-year old and 21 month old onto rides put together by guys that look like they’ve been on benders for a week. And I was able to avoid all round and round rides that would cause me to re-taste the long list of food above.
**My Zumba instructor’s name is Amanda and she is fantabulous! She actually had a great reason to be selling elephant ears- it was a Boy Scout fundraiser. You can read the story of her inspiring fitness journey and get some great tips on her blog http://thefitmommy.blogspot.com/
