I know, because I just googled it, that Spring doesn’t officially begin until March 20. I also know that much of the country is still very cold and the ground is still covered in white.
So for all you Northern types, please don’t take offense to this post. I am not at all trying to boast, or flaunt it, or wave it around in your face how lucky I am to have been experiencing highs in the 70’s and 80’s for the past three weeks. Or how I can wear shorts everyday. Or how the tops of my feet already have a slight tan line from my flip flops. Or that my two year old has, in February, played in the water hose. Twice. Ok, that may have been bad parenting- the water is still cold. Please don’t call Child Protective Services- I made him stop when he started shivering. Both times.
But by God, this is why I love the South.
The peach trees are a bloomin’…
And so are the Camelia’s…
To my non Southern friends, please don’t see these photos as taunting but as a sign that spring is on it’s way to your house very soon! Really, the end is in site!
And you can also take heart in the fact that it will probably freeze here one more time and kill everything.
Welcome to southern Alabama!
